Added by: Gekko, 21.07.2009
Step for IELTS

While you study at something different from other student, for almost international students IELTS test is inevitable test for applying furthermore study or jobs or immigration purpose.
In this article, I am going to guide you how you can choose your way for studying IELTS from my own experience.
First of all, WHAT IS IELTS TEST?
You might know already, but The International LanguageTesting System(IELTS)was introduced in 1989 to help universities and colleges assess the English skills of applicants wishing to study or train in the English language(Academic) .It still use for this purpose and is also used as a general test of English for immigration and employment(General).

STEP1: What you take.
You must choose to sit either the ACADEMIC or GENERAL training IELTS test.
-Academic   for people who study in English at university(undergraduate or postgraduate level)
Aim for the understanding and use of complex academic language
-General training   people who requiring a more general level of English proficiency for
college, high school, employment or immigration purpose
*Academic test is more difficult than General training one.

IELTS test is;
                                                Listening test     30mins
Reading test   (Academic or General) 60mins
Writing test   (Academic or General) 60mins
                                               Speaking test 15-20mins

*We have listening , reading ,writing test in the morning.
And speaking test is after lunch break. You will know the time of your speaking test in the morning.
Last time I had to wait for 4hours!!!!
If you working at evening time you better mention about this your boss before!
As well as bring your own lunch. It is not always have some shops around test centre.

STEP2:How to study?
You can choose your own way; for example at school, with private tutor, just by yourself .
In my opinion, I recommend ‘’Private tutor’’
I didn’t go school because I was busy and didn’t want to pay expensive fee.
At first, I studied by myself, however it is very difficult to check my levels with speaking or writing sections.
So, I chose private lesson, It is actually good and flexible.
My tutor correct my essays and I could make my questions clear, and get information.
Every time I can decide when I want to have a lesson.
ANYWAY……

If you cannot study at home or you need to have someone who study IELTS with you, you better go to schools, on the other hand, you have good environment for study at home, and busy for working etc, private lesson is suite for you.

STEP3:When and where you have an IELTS test?
You better register the IELTS test as soon as possible.
Otherwise, you have to wait for long time. Even if you apply now, generally you have to wait for 3months…..
What you need to bring.
-Your valid passport
-passport-sized photos(must not be more than 6 months old)
-application form
-fee

STEP4:Which books ?
You can buy textbooks most of book shops, and any kind of books alike.
I used Kinokuniya, there are many range of books.
However, these books are quite expensive, you can also buy second hand one.
One of useful and cheap one is from the internet.
You are able to download test and mp3.
